Folklore

The songs and dances of Al Jouf have always painted a glorious picture of the region. As it goes, there is a song for every occasion, especially with the accompanied mono-string Rababah and its mesmeric desert tunes. Folkdances of Al Jouf play a great role in energizing any special occasion.  For example, enchanting poems are sung during weddings while welcoming the visitors. Samri is a dance form that is popular with the youth. Other popular lyrics sung by Al Joufian locals are, ‘Hujaini and Hida’, melodies specific to horsemen, who sing them during taming their horses.
