Al-Ma’dous
 

It is one of the favorite dishes here. It consists of equal amounts of peeled lentils and rice. The rice is placed over already sautéed onions, and then to this enough amount of water is added and seasoned with some cumin, black pepper. Generous amount of ghee is added to ensure the most delicious flavor. It is usually eaten for lunch being served with lemon pickles. This dish is not only prepared in Makkah city, but also it is popular in the surrounding villages.​
